Preparing your base files
Last updated: May 4, 2026
Before uploading a base file, make sure it is properly set up for use in your template.
A well-prepared base file will save time and prevent issues when creating your print file.
What your base file should include
Your base file should contain everything that is fixed and not personalizable, such as:
Final dimensions (including bleed and margins)
Static design elements (decorations, frames, backgrounds)
Production details (crop marks, cut lines, annotations, etc.)
These elements will always be part of the print file.
Do not include any elements that will be personalized.
This includes:
Text that shoppers will edit
Images or photos that shoppers will upload
These elements should be added inside Customily.
General guidelines
Make sure your file is exported at the correct size
Use a format that matches your final export (vector or image)
Keep your design clean and organized

Important
Make sure your base file only includes fixed elements. As all personalization will be added inside Customily.
